NURSE ANESTHETIST (CRNA) (TEMP position)

Job SummaryThese temporary positions are not covered by the Michigan Nurses Association collective bargaining agreement and do not qualify for UMHS benefits. Unit‑based temporary employees who have worked 400 hours in a calendar year become a Per Diem employee and must pay dues or service fees under the collective bargaining agreement. Once the employee meets the 400‑hour threshold, they become a union member for the duration of employment as Per Diem.
Temporary APRN employees and MCV temporary employees are not eligible for Per Diem status.
Provide anesthesia and anesthesia‑related care to facilitate diagnostic, therapeutic, and/or surgical procedures for all patients regardless of age under the medical direction of an anesthesiologist, working collaboratively in a team environment. Prepare preoperative assessments, including health histories and physical examinations. Develop the anesthesia care plan with the anesthesiologist. Initiate and maintain appropriate perioperative anesthesia care. Maintain patient records, including quality‑assurance documentation.
Complete postoperative evaluations according to department policies. Participate in ongoing projects. Support perioperative providers. Perform other duties or projects as assigned. Function in accordance with all institutional policies and guidelines. Maintain licensure, certification, credentialing, and current BLS and ACLS status at all times. This position requires radiation exposure and the requirement to wear appropriate PPE. Must be self‑directed, reliable, and demonstrate initiative, motivation, independence, excellent communication, and problem‑solving skills.

- Minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited nursing‑anesthesia program.
- Current Michigan RN license and certification as a nurse anesthetist.
- Two years full‑time equivalent nurse anesthesia experience.
- Current ACLS certification.
- Five years adult ICU nursing experience.
- Five years full‑time equivalent nurse anesthesia experience.
- Demonstration of appropriate interpersonal and communication skills.
- Doctoral degree from an accredited educational program.
