REGISTERED NURSE (Ambulatory Care Nurse Resource Pool-Cancer Center Cluster)
Michigan Medicine is an academically‑based health care system dedicated to patient care, education, and research. The Registered Nurse in the Ambulatory Care Nurse Resource Pool will provide direct nursing care within the Rogel Cancer Center Clinics and other potential locations such as BCSC and NHC.
Responsibilities- Provide nursing care to adult patients in various ambulatory settings, including triage, assessment, and management of high‑acuity patients.
- Assess patient needs and assist with medical issues related to health concerns.
- Manage prescription refill requests and secure patient messages.
- Adapt communication style to patients from diverse backgrounds and demonstrate excellent listening skills to gather detailed information.
- Utilize electronic protocol database to assess, educate, and document health information accurately and expediently.
- Respond to the needs of the clinic and meet established quality and productivity standards.
- Collaborate with providers when necessary to determine patient disposition and advise on care decisions.
- Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for continuity of care.
- Manage telephone triage, patient and family education, procedural assistance, daily clinic operations, and other responsibilities as requested.
- Travel to various Michigan Medicine facilities as needed.
- Manage clinic flow, medication administration, emergency responses, port maintenance, and coordination with infusion, scheduling, and laboratory departments.
- Demonstrate critical thinking, problem‑solving, prioritization, customer service, interpersonal communication, accountability, adaptability, and education coaching for chronic conditions.
- Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.
- Manage complex clinical issues using assessment skills, protocols, and evidence‑based interventions.
- Adapt to different patient populations as required. Training will be provided for new subspecialties.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
- Minimum of three (3) years of oncology RN experience within the last five (5) years.
- Ambulatory Care experience with telephone triage/symptom management within the last three (3) years.
- BSN.
- OCN certification.
- Ambulatory Care Float RN experience.
- Hourly range for Registered Nurses: $41.78–$64.81 per hour.
- Evening Shift Differential: $3.00 per hour.
- Night Shift Differential: $4.00 per hour.
- Charge Nurse Differential: $1.00 per hour.
