Allergy Clinic Nurse

• Provide the delivery of culturally sensitive, age-specific team-based care models in delivering nursing care to Allergy Clinic patients including adult and pediatric patient population
• Perform oral immunotherapy testing, oral food challenge testing, and food protein-induced enterocolitis syndrome (FPIES) testing.
• Respond to allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, utilizing clinic protocols.
• Perform phone triage, including assessment, screening, clinical advice, nurse visits (in person/telephone), in-clinic hands on procedures, and other duties assigned.
• Accurate and efficient documentation of nursing care.
• Knowledge and appropriate use of internal and external resources, including UMH policies and protocols.
• Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel; collaborate with colleagues, other disciplines, and health care/community services to promote continuity of care for optimal patient outcomes.
• Independently and completely perform focused assessment to provide best practice patient care for families and patients with allergy diagnoses including food sensitivities, food allergies, and other allergy diagnoses as appropriate.
• Administer allergy injections according to Allergy Division protocols.

• Proficiency with typing and electronic health record documentation.
• Ability to manage complex clinical issues utilizing assessment skills, protocols, and evidence-based interventions.
• Willingness to adapt to different populations pediatric and/or adult as patient demands. Orientation and training would be provided for new subspecialties within Allergy Clinic based on expansion of division.
• Recognizes Allergy Specialty information.
• Prioritizes key nursing diagnoses to address physical and psychosocial/emotional areas.

• Independently develops, implements, and evaluates plan of care that recognizes subtle changes in patients? condition and adapts plan as needed.
