This is an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) job opening. Both qualified NP and PA applicants will be considered. A total of three (3) 1.0 FTE Advanced Practice Professionals (either NP or PA) will be hired to fill this job opening.

ResponsibilitiesIn collaboration with the cardiac surgery acute care team, manages acute and critically ill pre‑ and post‑surgical infants and children with congenital/acquired heart disease.
- Perform detailed history and physical examinations
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, radiographs, and clinical studies
- Order/prescribe and titrate medications
- Perform various diagnostic, therapeutic, and minor surgical procedures
- Maintain continuity of care
- Collaborate with providers/consultants to coordinate clinical care
- Document patient status, evaluation, and treatment plan
- Facilitate patient transfer across levels of care, including writing discharge orders and communicating specific patient needs to team members
- Provide education for patients, families, and staff
- Participate in quality assurance activities
Note:
This is a 40‑hour night position with rotation to days as needed. Includes weekends and holidays.
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and a Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan
- Current specialty certification to practice as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner. Acute care certification; primary care considered with appropriate experience
- Graduation from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an accredited organization
- State of Michigan Controlled Substance License required
- Current DEA registration required
- AHA approved PALS certification or the ability to obtain prior to employment
- Two years of recent clinical practice experience in pediatric care or intensive care in a subspecialty
- Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC‑PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan
- State of Michigan Controlled Substance License required
- Current DEA registration required
- AHA approved PALS certification or the ability to obtain prior to employment
- Two years of recent clinical practice experience in pediatric care or intensive care in a subspecialty
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the credentialing and privileging process. In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.

Michigan Medicine offers a competitive salary with excellent benefits. Full‑time salary range: $138,489 – $213,657 per year.
