Employment Type: Full time

Shift: 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM

Position Purpose

The 6 East Cardiac Intensive Care Unit/Progressive Care Unit cares for critically ill cardiac patients recovering from acute MI, cardiogenic shock, CHF, cardiac arrest, and percutaneous interventions. The unit supports patients with heart attacks, heart failure, arrhythmias, and those requiring devices such as Impella or IABP. The RN team works with patient care techs during the day shift to manage this population.

Required Qualifications
  • Education:

    Graduation from an accredited nursing school that permits sitting for the NCLEX to become licensed as a Registered Nurse. BSN preferred.
  • Licensure:
    Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license, BLS, and ACLS (required for float pool, cardiac/cath lab, AICU, emergency). RN’s must also hold an ACLS certification and complete Critical Care Core classes or test out.
  • Experience:

    Experience caring for critically ill cardiac patients is encouraged. First‑time Canadian RNs are encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge and

    Skills:

    Nursing theory, practice, age‑specific needs, interpersonal skills for collegial work relationships, therapeutic patient/family relationships, critical thinking, attention to detail when planning and performing nursing care.

  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized care plans
  • Use teach‑back methodology to educate patients and families
