Cardiac Intensive Care Unit/Progressive Care Unit
In-patient, 6-bed adult unit with a mix of cardiac and medical patients. The treatment team includes RNs and Patient Care Techs on day shift. Patients are critically ill, including those with ST elevation MI, unstable post‑cardiac procedure, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest requiring hypothermia, or any hemodynamically unstable patient needing pressors, the Impella device, or an IABP. RNs are required to complete Critical Care Core classes or test out and must hold an ACLS certification.
Shifts are 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Status available:
Full time, Part time, with every other weekend and holiday per year required for Full‑time and Part‑time team members.
- Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing that allows the graduate to sit for the NCLEX exam, and licensure as a registered nurse. - BSN Preferred; effective January 1, 2013, all new hires must have a BSN or agree in writing to obtain a BSN within five years from hire date or upon transfer to an RN role.
- Licensure:
Current Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license; BLS; ACLS required for Float Pool, Cardiac/Cath Lab, AICU, and Emergency. - Any experience with Canadian nursing standards is encouraged.
- Knowledge of nursing theory, practice, and age‑specific needs.
- Strong interpersonal skills to initiate and maintain collegial relationships with coworkers and therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
- Critical thinking skills necessary to perform the principal duties and responsibilities of the job.
- Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care.

- Develop, implement, evaluate and revise individualized plans of care.
- Use teach‑back methodology to educate patients and families.
- Actively seek to prevent potential hospital‑acquired complications.
- Effectively communicate patient status, priority goals and interventions during consultations, rounds and handoffs.
- Follow all HIPAA policies and procedures.
