This is a multiple‑fill job opening. Four (4) 1.0 FTE Registered Nurses will be hired to fill this position. Hours and shifts are identical for all hires. Work schedule details are provided below.
Responsibilities- Scrub and circulate in operating rooms assigned under the clinical supervision of a Charge Nurse, Clinical Supervisor, or Clinical Nursing Director as appropriate.
- Rotate shift and accept call as assigned by the Clinical Manager/Clinical Nursing Director.
- Assist in the teaching activities of the Operating Room.
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the state of Michigan.
- Two (2) years of recent RN circulating and scrubbing experience within the last three years, in at least two of the following adult surgical services: orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, plastics, or ophthalmology.
- Ability to work with a non-responsive patient population.
- Call commitment with a 30‑minute response time.
- All applicants selected to interview will complete a one‑day observation in the University Hospital Operating Room (unpaid).
- An up‑to‑date and accurate resume is required for both internal and external applicants.
- Demonstrated satisfactory attendance record with employment references.
- Demonstrated ability to handle stress, conflict, and resolution.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to work as a team member.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent.
Hourly range for Registered Nurses: $41.78–$64.81 per hour. Shift differentials:
- Evening Shift Differential: $3.00 per hour
- Night Shift Differential: $4.00 per hour
- Day Shift Weekend Differential: $2.90 per hour
- Evening Shift Weekend Differential: $5.90 per hour
- Night Shift Weekend Differential: $6.90 per hour
- Charge Nurse Differential: $1.00 per hour

C. Actual level and salary will be determined at the time of hire. Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level
F.
Hours:
40 hours per week.
Shift: Day/Evening rotation with call and weekend/holiday obligations.
Location:
University Hospital Operating Room.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the University of Michigan and the Michigan Nurses Association and the U‑M Professional Nurse Council union, which settles wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
