University Hospital (5B Medical/Surgical Unit)

Responsibilities*5B1 is a 32-bed medical/surgical unit that primarily includes patients admitted to the services of: (Medicine) Gastroenterology/Liver , Medicine Faculty Hospitalist /Renal and (Surgery) transplant, bariatric, colorectal, urology, orthopedic. Our interdisciplinary team provides care to patients and families across the adult life-span who are experiencing acute and chronic episodes of their illness.
5B, Internal Medicine unit, has been awarded the prestigious Academy of Medical Surgical Nursing Prism Award
. 5B is one of two units in the state of Michigan to receive this honor! This award recognizes medical-surgical units for providing exemplary patient care and reflects the units commitment to patient safety, excellence in clinical care, teamwork, and shared leadership.

Current Michigan RN license for all candidates that have passed the NCLEX.
** GN applicants will be considered for this position. The selected Graduate Nurse candidate must successfully pass the NCLEX for Michigan RN licensure priot to start date.

BSN preferred. One year experience as a Registered Nurse. Experience with General Medicine patients Demonstrated effective written and communication skills. Demonstrated problem solving, leadership, and effective delegation skills. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
