This is an Advanced Practice Professional (APP) job opening.
Both qualified NP and PA applicants will be considered.
A total of (1) one, 1.0 FTE, Advanced Practice Professional (either NP or PA) will be hired to fill this job opening.

Responsibilities- Complete detailed histories and physicals, daily progress notes, streamline the patient transfer process between levels of care, and discharge orders/documentation.
- Collect and interpret reports from diagnostic lab tests, radiographic procedures, clinical studies.
- Order tests/prescribe medications.
- Present pertinent data to the medical staff and assist in maintaining continuity of care throughout Cardiovascular Medicine, including thorough and accurate hand-offs.
- Patient/family education on heart failure, heart transplant, and LVAD.
- Procedures include point-of-care ultrasound for physical assessment, placement of wound vacs, and placing NG tubes.
- Confer with attending physicians and collaborate with other care providers/consultants to coordinate and communicate clinical care needs both inpatient and outpatient, and internal/external care providers.
- Maintain accurate documentation regarding patient status, evaluations, and treatments to physicians and the Heart Failure/Transplant/MVAD Outpatient Teams.
- Participation in quality assurance activities including Lean Projects with the Heart Failure/Transplant/MVAD Team.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of medical principles, practices, standards, and techniques in accordance with Michigan Medicine policies and procedures, Medical Staff Bylaws, and State and Federal laws/regulations.
- Participate in activities that promote professional growth and self-development.
- Adhere to all Michigan Medicine dress codes, personnel, and safety policies.
- Perform other related duties as required to assure patient safety and satisfaction utilizing service excellence and Patient Family Centered Care in daily practice.
- Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
- Certification as an Acute Care Adult Gerontology Nurse Practitioner or Acute Care NP.
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program or who has successfully completed all required Nurse Practitioner program coursework at an accredited Nurse Practitioner program to qualify to take their specialty certification exam.
- Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN).
- Current DEA registration required.
- AHA BLS and ACLS required.
- Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.
- Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
- State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required.
- Current DEA registration required.
- AHA BLS and ACLS required.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the credentialing and privileging process.

Desired Qualifications- 1 year or more of full time Advance Practice Provider (APP) experience with 50% or more clinical time spent working with Heart Failure patients, Pre/Post-Heart Transplant patients, and/or LVAD patients within the last five years.
- Recent (within the last five years) APP experience working adult cardiology patients in an inpatient setting.
- APP experience prescribing and managing immunosuppression medications.
- 1 year or more APP experience rounding on an inpatient internal medicine or hospitalist service caring for acutely ill patients on telemetry, step-down, or ICU settings.
- One or more of the following certifications in Heart Failure: CHFN-K, HF-Cert, or OMT-HF
- One or more of the following certifications in cardiology: CCKE, ABCL, or CHC
- Proficiency reading 12 lead ECGs.
- Ability to demonstrate good computer skills including computer documentation and order entry.
