American Traveler is hiring a Pediatric Oncology RN for a Medical Surgical Oncology unit requiring 2 years of experience and an active MI RN license.

Requirements
  • Active MI RN license required in-hand at time of consideration (compact license not accepted)
  • BLS certification required
  • Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC) and OCN certification preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant nursing experience required
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Bone marrow transplant experience preferred; administration of cells experience not required
  • Skilled in IV therapy, port access and management, central line care, and infusion pump management
  • Experience with chemotherapy administration, biotherapy, and CAR-T/stem cell therapies preferred
  • Ability to recognize and manage oncologic emergencies and treatment side effects
  • Experience caring for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma
  • Two professional references required from a manager or supervisor (charge RNs not accepted)
Responsibilities
  • Pediatric hospital setting in the Medical Surgical Oncology unit
  • Patient population includes pediatric oncology, bone marrow transplant, and cell/gene therapy patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Day shift schedule, 4x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Every other weekend required
  • On-call responsibilities required
  • Performs cell and gene therapy administration, blood product administration, chemotherapy and conditioning treatment administration, supportive care, and triage
  • Provide direct patient care including chemotherapy administration, blood product administration, and supportive oncology care
  • Support psychosocial needs of patients and families through education and emotional support
  • Follow neutropenic precautions and isolation/PPE protocols
  • Coordinate care across the interdisciplinary oncology team
  • Complete required certifications prior to start date
  • Pre-hire training modules are not required and will be completed onsite during orientation
  • Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • No requested time off permitted during the first week of the contract
  • Traveler pairs are not accepted for this position
  • Previous perm staff may return as travelers after a 1-year separation
  • Candidates cannot apply if previously employed by the client facility within the last 12 months
