Temp - Registered Nurse (RN) - Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) (Days) Bay City, MI

Description:

IMPORTANT!

McLaren Bay has implemented a strict three-strike attendance policy to support the needs of our patient population and ensure appropriate staffing coverage. Any RN contractor who is absent from a scheduled shift, arrives more than 20 minutes late for their scheduled shift, or fails to fulfill their scheduled shift in its entirety without prior approval will receive an attendance strike. This includes leaving a scheduled shift early without prior authorization.

Any RN contractor who accumulates three attendance strikes will be terminated from their assignment, effective immediately.

Extenuating circumstances, such as a communicable illness or hospitalization, accompanied by appropriate supporting documentation, will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and may be considered in favor of the contractor.

This policy will take effect on September 1, 2026.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Patient Monitoring:
Continuously monitor vital signs (heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature) and the patient's level of consciousness as they recover from anesthesia.
  • Airway Management:
Ensure a patent airway and adequate respiratory function, intervening quickly if an obstruction or respiratory distress occurs.
  • Symptom and Pain Management:
Administer medications, such as painkillers, anti-nausea drugs, and fluids, to manage post-operative symptoms effectively and keep the patient comfortable.
  • Assessment and Intervention:
Assess surgical sites for bleeding or complications, check dressings, and perform physical assessments. Recognize adverse reactions to anesthesia or surgery and initiate appropriate emergency interventions.
  • Documentation and Communication:
Maintain accurate and detailed patient records, and communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members regarding the patient's condition and care plan.
