Job Description
NSF is seeking a part‑time Technician I in Exposures Labs. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain laboratory experience and potentially grow within a certification company. Responsibilities include performing laboratory procedures accurately and timely while expanding your skill set under supervision. Flexible schedules may be available for students seeking experience.
Responsibilities- Under supervision, perform basic laboratory tasks (i.e. making batch water, distributing and tracking samples, laboratory housekeeping/maintenance, and preparing or pre‑treating samples).
- Perform exposure/pre‑p methods for varied product types.
- Prepare all records (electronic data, folders and forms) in a timely, thorough, and neat manner.
- Use the laboratory information systems and sample‑tracking procedures, as applicable.
- Use MSDS documentation to work safely with various chemicals, solvents, acids, and bases.
- Participate in rotation of work schedules.
- Maintain a clean work area.
- Perform other duties as requested.
- Adhere to safety and health policies and procedures.
- High school diploma.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to organize work and maintain workflow with minimal direction.
- Ability to work a minimum of 24 hours per week.
- Associate’s degree in a physical science or equivalent laboratory experience.
- Good organization skills and the ability to follow written and verbal directions.
- Familiarity with quality procedures.
- Familiarity with general laboratory equipment and procedures.
- Frequent light physical effort required (lift and manipulate test samples or move 5–10 lbs. from one area to another).
- Periodic medium and heavy physical effort (lift and manipulate test samples or move up to 20 lbs. alone, or more with group or mechanical assistance).
- Standing for long periods of time is necessary periodically.
- Working with various organic solvents, chemical analytes, reagents, acids, and bases.
- Safety glasses must be worn at all times in lab areas.
- Work is performed in a laboratory environment.
- Fast‑paced, hands‑on work environment.
- Smoke‑free work environment.
- May be exposed to allergens when working with dietary supplement products.
