Job Description

The Health and Safety Specialist is responsible for administering and continuously improving New Eagle's workplace health, safety, and environmental (EHS) programs. Reporting into Operations, this role partners closely with engineering and facilities leadership to ensure compliance with OSHA, Michigan MIOSHA, and other applicable federal and state regulations, while building a strong, proactive culture of safety across the organization. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented safety professional who is equally comfortable administering compliance programs, conducting hands-on inspections, and training and coaching employees at all levels.

  • Administer and maintain the workplace health, safety, and environmental (EHS) program in compliance with OSHA and applicable regulations.
  • Develop, update, and deliver safety policies, procedures, and employee training (e.g., hazard communication, PPE, lockout/tagout, emergency response).
  • Conduct safety inspections, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments; track and drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Maintain safety records and regulatory reporting, including OSHA 300 logs and incident/injury documentation.
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analysis; recommend and verify corrective actions.
  • Chair the safety committee and coordinate emergency preparedness, ergonomics, and workers' compensation reporting.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in occupational health, safety, or environmental compliance, ideally within a manufacturing, engineering, or product development environment.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations (29 CFR 1910/1926), Michigan MIOSHA requirements, and applicable environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting job hazard analyses, safety audits, and incident investigations, with the ability to drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop and deliver training and influence employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using EHS management or incident-tracking software such as Eco Online.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Occupational Health & Safety Technologist (OHST) certification.
  • Experience in an automotive, engineering services, or advanced technology environment.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED trainer certification.
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 or similar occupational health and safety management systems.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 and IATF 16949 or other Quality Management Systems.
