Job Description

As a Technical Reviewer II Product Certification (Materials
- Food Contact Evaluation) you will conduct product reviews and evaluation, for a wide range of food contact materials, chemical cleaners and other materials to a variety of established policies, guidelines, standards and regulations, such as, Nonfood Compound Registration, US Code of Federal Regulations (21 CFR), Food Equipment, NSF/ANSI Standard 51, EPA's Safer Choice Standard, Food Contact Materials, etc. The Technical Reviewer II is a key role in certification process and ensuring the quality of certification for clients.

This role performs a wide range of technical, administrative and customer-related duties with varying complexity.

Job Description

As a Technical Reviewer II Product Certification (Materials
- Food Contact Evaluation) you will conduct product reviews and evaluation, for a wide range of food contact materials, chemical cleaners and other materials to a variety of established policies, guidelines, standards and regulations, such as, Nonfood Compound Registration, US Code of Federal Regulations (21 CFR), Food Equipment, NSF/ANSI Standard 51, EPA's Safer Choice Standard, Food Contact Materials, etc. The Technical Reviewer II is a key role in certification process and ensuring the quality of certification for clients.

This role performs a wide range of technical, administrative and customer-related duties with varying complexity.

Responsibilities
  • Perform certification and registration reviews of products, client documentation and test reports against established policies/guidelines/standards/regulations
  • Determines required follow-up for certification/non-certification; registration/non-registration (if applicable)
  • Determines required compliance testing and evaluation; documents testing results as required for certification or registration services
  • Performs quality assurance reviews of documentation/inspection reports/Test reports against established guidelines/standards; determines required follow-up for certification/non-certification; registration/non-registration (if applicable)
  • Serve as mentor/trainer and provide technical support for Account Managers to improve technical understanding, competency, and application
  • Contact clients/suppliers to review findings and outstanding issues, and provide technical support by clarifying any technical requirements and issues as needed
  • Create product summaries, findings and other certification documents
  • Represent NSF at industry events such as trade shows, conferences and meetings
  • Actively participate in accreditation activities, as appropriate
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Biology or related discipline and 1-3 years related work experience
  • Excellent time management, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex and technical concepts
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated project and time management skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • General knowledge of the food industry, food contact materials and food contact regulations
  • Working knowledge of US Code of Federal Regulations (21 CFR) indirect food additives, Food Contact Notifications (FCN), Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS), Safer Choice, Threshold of Regulation (TOR) and/or EC 1935/2004
  • Knowledge and coursework in chemistry and biology with basic knowledge of toxicology principles
  • Knowledge of aquatic and human health hazard assessment
