Research Assistant/Associate, Medical Technologist & Lab Technician
Job Summary
A research laboratory in the Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a highly motivated individual with a strong scientific approach and excellent organizational skills to fill our open Research Technician position. The candidate will contribute to research focused on lung epithelial biology, tissue regeneration, and mechanisms of disease through maintenance of cell cultures, data collection, analysis, and record keeping. The position offers the opportunity to work in a highly collaborative research environment, gain experience with state‑of‑the‑art methods, and contribute to projects with direct translational value to lung health.
Responsibilities- Maintain three‑dimensional cell culture of lung tissues as organoids.
- Perform confocal microscopy, immunohistochemistry, DNA/RNA isolation, and RT‑qPCR analysis.
- Maintain research reagents and detailed records of laboratory procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of research papers and presentation materials for meetings.
- High school diploma or associate’s degree and at least 2 years of experience (including part‑time undergraduate lab work) in cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask and develop solutions to basic technical problems.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow laboratory procedures accurately.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Minimum 1‑year commitment with occasional weekend work required.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
- Bachelor’s degree in the life sciences.
- Experience in three‑dimensional culture of lung cells.
- Working knowledge of lung biology.
- Record of contribution to publications.
