Responsibilities
  • Bag groceries at checkout for customers, ensuring at least five items per bag when possible and protecting items from damage.
  • Follow best bagging practices using reusable, plastic, or paper bags.
  • Assist customers in removing merchandise from the bottom of the bascart for checkout.
  • Offer help to customers loading bags into their cars.
  • Perform basic shelf conditioning and restock merchandise on shelves.
  • Inform customers of grocery specials.
  • Return merchandise to store shelves and gather bascarts for return to designated areas.
  • Clean spills, pick up trash inside the store and parking lot, and maintain clean interior and exterior areas.
  • Handle and assemble seasonal merchandise.
  • Understand store layout, locate products, and conduct price checks for cashiers.
  • Reinforce safety programs by complying with safety procedures, identifying unsafe conditions or incidents, and notifying store management.
  • Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Practice preventive maintenance by inspecting equipment and notifying the appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.
  • Create an environment in which customers feel welcome, important, and appreciated by answering questions about products sold within the department and throughout the store.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
  • Work cooperatively in a high‑paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational, and cooperative manner.
  • Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
  • Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Position Qualifications
  • Customer Service skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
Desired Previous Job Experience
  • Retail experience is preferred but not necessary.
