Solutions Consultant

Overview

The Solution Consultant is primarily responsible for determining the overall strategic, operational, and technical scope of new business opportunities with customers and prospects. Part business analyst, part technologist, part salesperson, the Solution Consultant works closely with sales and implementation teams to understand strategic business issues and then craft and communicate solution strategies. A strong consulting background and comfort with sales are required, as is familiarity with the sales methodology.

Candidates should have a strong technical background, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and knowledge of tax and accounting business processes.

The role influences business revenue growth in multiple ways: providing customers, prospects, and sales reps with technical information, advice, and demonstrations via onsite or web-based demos; coordinating product training, scripts, client-facing videos, and highlighting current industry and customer trends; contributing feedback to influence product roadmaps; and partnering with sales enablement to develop training plans for long-term sales success.

• Work with sales resources and customers to understand needs and position Thomson Reuters product(s) as the best solution.
• Build and present customized demonstrations.
• Convey deep understanding of the customer's industry and workflow as it relates to Thomson Reuters products and services.
• Acquire and maintain an advanced technical understanding of Thomson Reuters products and services.
• Coordinate strategy with other divisions to leverage customer insights and drive revenue.

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communication preferred.
• Prior Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting Sales or Support Experience a plus.
• Thorough understanding of the accounting/tax software industry and/or the public accounting profession.
• Demonstrated practical knowledge of TRTA products, services and related tools.
• Experienced presenter with effective listening, written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to communicate and influence others over the phone and in person.
• Ability to gather, keep up-to-date, and apply competitive information in the sales process.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally.
• Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.

• Junior Solutions Consultant – Expected to deliver value-focused demonstrations on 1-2 major Thomson Reuters platforms and assist other divisions.
• Solutions Consultant – Expected to deliver value-focused demonstrations on 3-5 major Thomson Reuters platforms and participate actively in cross-division projects.
• Senior Solutions Consultant – Expected to deliver value-focused demonstrations on all major Thomson Reuters platforms and lead cross-division projects.
