The candidate would need to be familiar with RCRA and DOT, but could otherwise be a fairly new candidate (1-2 years of experience), as there is mentoring available.
Environmental Specialist Responsibilities:Air
- Maintain monthly paint booth records – Detroit (D)
- Maintain air emissions inventory master spreadsheet (D and Toledo (T)
- Pull monthly GHG compliance data.
- Toledo NPDES permit.
- Quarterly storm water sampling and storm water inspection
- Annual storm water facility inspection
- Document monthly vault discharge
- Toledo SWPPP
- Annual site training
- Perform annual waste characterization review (D and T)
- Perform weekly RCRA / AST inspections (D and T)
- Perform monthly environmental inspection (D & T)
- Schedule used oil / filter pick-ups as needed. Approx.. every 4 weeks. – D and T
- Schedule Universal waste pick-ups as needed, at least 1X / year. – D & T
- Schedule hazardous waste disposal as needed. D and T
- Ensure quarterly cleanout of steam bay / truck wash / site sumps - D
- Maintain manifest log and hazardous materials shipping papers- D & T
- Ensure return copies of shipping paperwork are received and documented.
- Ensure waste shipping signatories are properly trained: DOT and RCRA
- Annual Total Waste Manager (TWM) Reconciliation
- Obtain annual PO for TWM services
- Quarterly and Annual UST inspections – D
- Hydrostatic testing (3 year) – D
- Quarterly and Annual AST Inspections – T
- Weekly inspections – D and T
- Obtain and post annual UST registration certificate – D
- Annual SPCC Inspections – D and T
- Obtain annual PO's for quarterly and annual inspections/service
- Work with site UAW trainers to ensure all environmental training is scheduled and completed.
- Make sure Env. Specialist has current DOT, RCRA and Michigan A/B Operator training.
- Coordinate and track Incident Command Training – D and T
- Spill Kit Inspections – monthly – D and T
- Annual Waste Inspection – City of Detroit
- Maintain and update as necessary the sites Episode Plan (D and T) / Tank Manuals (D and T) / Slug Plan (D).
- Annual Review – D and T
- Develop annual goals / objectives – D and T
- Annual review of the aspects / impacts (environmental operational analysis) and determine significant aspects. D and T
- Create quarterly ISO articles for the INK site publication – D
- Annual review of all procedures and forms
- Internal annual audits – D and T
- External annual audits – D and T
- Management Review – D and T
- Monthly - gather and document generator hours run time – D and T
- Ensure annual PM's are performed.
- Provide New Employee Orientation as needed.
- Respond to all environmental spills
- Ensure all spills are entered into this spreadsheet – D and T
Obtain and distribute the annual hazardous materials certificate of registration.
Scorecard- Scorecard data gathering and input.
- Update site and corporate scorecards.
- Create PDCA as needed.
- Post scorecard data at sites – D and T
- Monthly LWCPC
- Biweekly - BEST Meeting – D and T
- Attend Monthly Corporate Calls
- Daily Site Management Meetings as appropriate
- Review new hazardous materials requests and implement waste management processes as necessary.
- SARA Tier II Reporting – D and T
- Annual Chemical Filing Fee - T
- Pollution Prevention Reporting – D and T
- Semi Annual FCV completion and submission – D and T
- Host annual spill drill / review – D and T
- Maintain CFC containing equipment spreadsheet (D and T)
- Ensure Mechanics maintain their mobile equipment CFC training
