Overview

The Day Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for guests, team members, and property at The Highlands at Harbor Springs resort. This position involves active monitoring, patrol duties, emergency response, and guest assistance during daytime operations.

Responsibilities

The following statements are intended as general illustrations of the work in this classification and are not all-inclusive of the specific position.

Security and Patrol
  • Patrol resort premises including hallways, parking lots, stairwells, lobbies, bars, restaurants, and outdoor areas on foot or by vehicle
  • Monitor for unusual, illegal, or dangerous activities occurring on property
  • Report suspicious behavior and hazardous conditions
  • Observe and report hazardous conditions including roof snow accumulation
  • Monitor sprinkler shutoffs and check for associational parking/rule violations
  • Maintain and enforce all trespassing violations on the resort property
  • Enforce federal, state, local, and resort rules and regulations
Guest and Team Member Assistance
  • Respond promptly to guest and employee incidents to resolve a wide variety of issues including rule enforcement
  • Assist guests with vehicle-related issues
  • Help guests and staff unable to access rooms or offices
  • Provide assistance with housekeeping calls after hours
  • Provide assistance with maintenance calls after hours

    Assist with shuttle service calls after hours
  • Assist with ski valet service calls after hours
Emergency Response
  • Coordinate with and assist Law Enforcement, EMS, and Fire services
  • Provide First Aid and CPR as needed
  • Investigate and document guest accidents
  • Monitor gas meters and report findings to corporate

    File all necessary incident reports in a timely and accurate manner
Administrative and Operational Support
  • Monitor and maintain key control documentation for the resort property
  • Secure and un‑secure operational areas for staff
  • Take in, record, and maintain lost and found items
  • Provide medical equipment and safety equipment to staff as needed
  • Maintain accurate records and reports of all security‑related activities
Qualifications

Required

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Valid driver's license
  • High school diploma or GED

Preferred

  • First responder experience (EMT, paramedic, firefighter)
  • Military experience
  • Previous security or law enforcement experience
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to patrol property on foot and by vehicle for extended periods
  • Ability to respond quickly to emergency situations
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions
Work Environment

This position operates in a resort environment that includes both indoor and outdoor settings. The Day Security Officer may be exposed to various weather conditions and must be prepared to respond to emergencies at any time during their shift.
