** General Summary**$20.68 - $26.92/hr  On-site    This is a part time position limited to 1,000 hours per year who will provide assistance to the full time Parks Skilled Maintenance Electrician. This role provides assistance to higher level maintenance personnel that are performing rough and finish carpentry, electrical work, painting, and plumbing, and assists as required in the development, maintenance and repair of park facilities, grounds, and buildings.
Under limited supervision, performs manual work required in the general maintenance of grounds, buildings and equipment owned or operated by Oakland County Parks and Recreation. Cleans and prepares work sites and cleans machinery, tools, and equipment. Drives various vehicles used for transporting work crews, materials, and equipment to and from work sites. Responsible for proper work procedures and safety practices. Must be alert to hazards and follow department safety and emergency procedures.##

** Occasionally functions as a leader over lower-level seasonal employees, interns, or volunteers under direction of higher-level staff.

WHEN ASSIGNED TO FACILITIES MAINTENANCEProvides assistance to higher level maintenance personnel that are performing rough and finish carpentry, electrical work, painting, and plumbing, and assists as required in the development, maintenance and repair of park facilities, grounds, and buildings.

Tears out walls, partitions, pipes, and related structures for building alterations.

Installs and maintains miscellaneous park fixtures, including fences, signs, park furniture, and swimming, fishing, and boating docks.

Prepares work sites for higher level maintenance personnel by erecting and dismantling scaffolding, excavation boxes, and guy wires; tearing out walls, partitions, pipes, and related structures for building alterations; preparing various building surfaces by washing, sanding, and scraping.

Using hand tools, digs and/or fills trenches, grades earth and repairs roads, drives and parking lots.

Assists in setting forms and unloads, mixes, pours, and spreads concrete.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Assists in maintaining the proper use of park facilities by patrolling areas on foot or by motor vehicle, informing park users of any violation of regulations, and notifying an appropriate supervisor of unusual or emergency situations.

Assists in promoting the efficient operation of parks by providing input to higher level staff related to job duties in the areas of maintenance, programs and events, or natural resources management and environmental sustainability. ESSENTIAL MENTAL &

Ability to clean and maintain grounds, equipment and assigned tools.

WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments where variable weather conditions.

May be required to be a driver or be a passenger in an automobile or bus.
