Utility Pole Inspection – Field Technician

Ann Arbor, Michigan

• Perform various field technical services for the operation, inspection, and maintenance of electrical distribution and transmission utility poles.
• Inspect wooden utility poles by excavating around the base, inspecting external/internal base, treating with internal or external treatment, and collecting/inputting data into a handheld computer.
• Operate necessary hand tools (shovel, drill, hammer) and handheld tablet to assess pole structural integrity and longevity of wooden telephone and utility poles.
• Achieve weekly production goals as defined by the project guidelines.
• Wear appropriate PPE and present a professional appearance and attitude.
• Demonstrate high work standards and attention to detail.
• Communicate with the public, customers, other team members, and leadership.
• Assist in Storm Response when activated by the utility company.

Travel throughout Southeast Michigan is required for this position.

• High School Diploma.
• Working knowledge of computers and software applications (MS Office Products).
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test.
• Ability to pass a satisfactory background check.
• Ability to complete an internal training program (written and field evaluation).
• Ability to work long hours in all types of weather and terrain.
• Ability to work independently or in a team.
