Job Responsibilities

Responsible for developing and maintaining automated and electrical systems. Develop, troubleshoot and correct problems, and supervise all aspects of the plant electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. Install and provide technical support for PLC‑based hardware and software. Ensure the plant runs smoothly and efficiently while meeting quality and safety standards. Troubleshoot and maintain processes that help manufacturers increase productivity.

Responsibilities, Duties and Authority
  • Analyze and improve the performance of existing automated systems.
  • Install, maintain and inspect control systems throughout the facility.
  • Troubleshoot non‑functioning components including servos, sensors, and control components.
  • Ensure calibration of all machines and conduct maintenance after calibration.
  • Run diagnostic checks and monitor automated systems.
  • Plan and execute new installations, upgrades and continuous improvements with internal and external resources.
  • Read, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs (Allen‑Bradley and Siemens preferred) using a laptop computer.
  • Work with Manufacturing and/or Quality to solve customer quality issues.
  • Analyze plant processes and recommend improvements based on electronics, engineering and mechanics knowledge.
  • Develop proactive improvement suggestions to enhance plant performance, equipment reliability and uptime.
  • Create programs to minimize and limit downtime.
  • Ensure error‑proofing devices are programmed for real‑time checks and that processes stop when malfunctions are detected.
  • Support implementation of Factory 4.0.
  • Adjust breaks and lunch times to support production floor requirements.
  • Create, verify and maintain electrical control schematics and program documentation.
  • Create and maintain backup programs for all programs and software in both locations to prevent loss.
  • Support the definition of Statement of Requirements, specifications and standards for controls and programming of new and modified equipment.
  • Assist in creating and performing preventative and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Repair equipment as needed and perform preventive maintenance tasks involved in TPM.
  • Develop a maintenance program for control systems and programs.
  • Provide leadership and direction to maintenance personnel or operations teams in troubleshooting activities.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures, including IATF 16949, Mafact, ISO
    14001 (EMS) and the Employee Handbook.
  • Demonstrate ability to carry out projects from beginning to end with internal and external resources.
  • Work independently or in teams on assigned tasks.
  • Follow MIOSHA, Magna and MPTSH safety regulations and policies, including required PPE, and report unsafe conditions to a supervisor or leader.
Education and/or Experience

High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an automotive manufacturing environment. Strong knowledge of PLCs (Allen Bradley and Siemens) for troubleshooting, robotics (ABB and Fanuc), electrical schematics interpretation, AC/DC motors, variable speed controllers, pneumatic components and pick‑and‑place devices, and electrical 110/120/220/480 voltages. Continuous improvement mindset, understanding of the “7 wastes,” multitasking ability, adaptability and creative problem‑solving skills.
