Responsibilities
- Perform work as outlined on the repair order with efficiency and accuracy, in accordance with Lithia and manufacturer standards.
- Diagnose cause of malfunction.
- Complete all work according to the applicable safety requirements.
- Road‑test vehicles to ensure quality of repair work.
- Accurately record time spent on repairs using company time‑clocking procedures.
- Document work performed on the repair order and record testing procedures/results.
- Maintain an inventory of normal mechanic tools and return special tools to the proper place.
- Use shop supplies and materials in a practical and economical manner.
- Maintain an organized and clean workspace, completing a stall cleaning each day.
- Ensure customer vehicles are returned clean and in the same condition as before service.
- Complete all required training and acquire/maintain manufacturer and ASE certifications.
- Participate in technical training as assigned and review technical bulletins and other publications.
- Communicate constructively with dealership personnel to satisfy customer needs.
- Report any situation that jeopardizes safety, welfare, or integrity of the dealership.
- Maintain personal grooming, hygiene, and uniform standards according to departmental policies.
- Arrive, take breaks, and depart at times designated by management.
- Strong attention to detail and sense of urgency.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Passed manufacturer training and can perform repairs in the following areas with no supervision: lube and maintenance services; engine repair; suspension/steering repair; brake repair; heating and A/C repair (optional).
- Manufacturer certified in all areas listed above.
- Minimum of one ASE certification (ASE Master Technician preferred).
- Customer Pay proficiency level: greater than 100%.
- Three to five years’ automotive technical knowledge.
- Acceptable driving record and a valid driver’s license in your state of residence.
