Position: 31N School Clinician - $63,296 - $82,285

Overview

Join our School Based Team at Centra Wellness Network (CWN). The 31N School Based Behavioral Health Services (SBBHS) Program is a subcontract service provided by CWN to school systems in Benzie County. It ensures the development, planning, implementation, and monitoring of high‑quality education, skill‑building, and therapeutic services for general education students experiencing mild to moderate emotional disturbances that impact their educational experience.

The school‑based clinician meets with students, families, and staff to provide education, prevention, assessment, consultation, and treatment to help students achieve socio‑emotional and academic progress.

The Mental Health Clinician delivers best‑practice behavioral health interventions individually and with family members, in accordance with their scope of practice. The employee will complete other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Assure correct development and implementation of treatment and prevention plans using best‑practice models.
  • Provide direct mental health and support services to students.
  • Administer behavioral health screening tools.
  • Maintain clinical documentation in the electronic record, including amount, scope, and duration of services provided per the treatment plan.
  • Follow agency policy, DCH, CARF, and Medicaid criteria for clinical documentation, including intake assessments, person‑centered plans, releases of information, progress notes, psycho‑social assessments, and discharge summaries.
  • Ensure excellent teamwork through regular meetings and consultation with students, teachers, and families.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings with families and school staff as requested.
  • Communicate information about treatment interventions, updating team members, school staff, and families to assure consistency and success for the student.
  • Consult with supervisor regarding any concerns that impact students’ or families’ care or compliance with regulations.
  • Participate in initial and ongoing training, program monitoring, appraisal, reporting, and resolution of complaints and problems.
  • Participate in monthly supervision individually or in assigned group supervision.
  • Work collaboratively with community service providers and other agencies.
  • Recommend interventions and/or modifications to a comprehensive person‑centered plan, guided by the child and driven by the family system.
  • Ensure appropriate referrals to community providers and inpatient services.
  • Schedule students and families efficiently, ensuring team coverage during school hours and when additional support is needed.
  • Promote recovery and empower students and families to make positive life choices while encouraging good mental and physical health.
  • Provide individual or small‑group counseling to named students in areas such as coping skills, self‑esteem, self‑regulation, bullying, interpersonal relationships, and other social conflicts.
  • Work with classroom teachers and other professionals on the development of class‑wide interventions, individual interventions, functional behavior assessments, and behavior intervention plans.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Participate in data management and reporting.
  • Hold regular meetings with school‑based teams to discuss student strengths.
  • Maintain accurate records for all interactions.
  • Keep up‑to‑date training and understanding of current best practices, research, and trends regarding skill development, ACES, trauma, and behavior.
  • Complete assigned responsibilities within agreed timelines.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Understand and work collaboratively with school district policies and procedures.
  • Aid school personnel with crisis intervention as needed.
Qualifications
  • Master Level Social Worker with full licensure, or limited licensure from the State of Michigan, or licensed Master Level Clinician in a related field with full or limited licensure from Michigan.
  • Highly recommended practice experience in behavioral health and substance use disorders.
