Role Summary

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Warehouse Team Lead is responsible for supporting the materials management function of the logistics department and indirectly supporting the overall sales function. Warehouse Team Leads are essential to the overall operation of the business. While specific daily tasks can vary depending on the company, a Warehouse Team Lead’s main responsibility is ensuring Warehouse Associates are successfully following work processes and assisting them with training and development.

Responsibilities
  • Assist Warehouse Associates with work process questions and problems
  • Recheck picking accuracy of Warehouse Associates
  • Verify back‑orders and adjust inventory as needed
  • Respond to job queues
  • Monitor truck loading to ensure accuracy of loading
  • Assist Supervisor with daily tasks and projects as assigned
  • Perform defined warehouse activities specific to the receipt, placement into inventory, selection for shipment, and shipment of stock
  • Pick and pack orders accurately and promptly
  • Receive inventory accurately and promptly
  • Restock inventory in designated storage areas
  • Truck loading and unloading according to established procedures
  • Follow safe work habits and established safety procedures
  • Safely operate additional warehouse equipment including stretch wrap machine, scale, and Star Ship UPS shipping software
  • Participate in safety initiatives as assigned
  • Accurately identify and count inventory in assigned areas
  • Maintain quality and quantity performance and production standards
  • Must learn how to operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, crane, etc.
  • Participate in ongoing general housekeeping of warehouse
  • Check assigned equipment for proper operation/functionality and communicate problems to Warehouse Manager
  • Attend meetings and training sessions
  • Other warehouse tasks as assigned

What you’ll need
  • Work Experience:

    2 years prior warehouse experience
  • Education:

    High School Diploma or GED
  • Analytics/Computer

    Skills:

    Ability to use standard office equipment, including but not limited to computerized bar code scanner, printer, and standard warehouse equipment/tools/machines/vehicles. Basic math and reasoning skills.
  • Organization

    Skills:

    Excellent work ethic, good verbal, and communication skills. Ability to work independently.
  • Cross‑functional skills:
    Ability to work effectively in a team environment and through the direction of a Warehouse Manager
  • Communication

    Skills:

    Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization. Know when to request assistance when appropriate, especially when lifting heavy objects.

    Skills:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disability to perform the essential functions. Ability to frequently lift/move up to 50 lbs. Ability to stand/walk/lift, pull, and push during entire work shift. Ability to climb stair/step ladders up to 16 steps.

    Physical Environment:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to temperature conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is consistent with that of a distribution center.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification in the operation of a forklift truck is not necessary but would be considered a plus
