What

are we looking for?

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations, assist in preparing financial statements, maintain general ledger entries, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This position offers a strong opportunity for professional growth and development in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Your overall essential responsibilities will be the following:
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist with preparing financial statements and supporting documentation.
  • Perform variance analysis and assist with budgeting and forecasting.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
  • Help maintain accurate fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
  • Stay current with accounting standards and company policies.

The salary range for this position is $65,000-$80,000 depending on experience.

You will catch our eye if you have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience (public or corporate accounting preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Net Suite, Sage Intacct, or similar).
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Extra credit will be given if you have the following experience, education, and requirements:
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
All SJCS employees must:
  • Obtain a valid health certificate to meet SJCS or current funding authority requirements as required.
  • Meet SJCS and the state funding authority requirements of criminal background and record checks.
  • Having a valid state‑issued driver’s license with a current driving record in good standing is required.
Physical and environmental conditions include:
  • May lift a minimum of 15 pounds.
  • Able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach and walk for long periods.
