We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations, assist in preparing financial statements, maintain general ledger entries, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. This position offers a strong opportunity for professional growth and development in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Your overall essential responsibilities will be the following:- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Assist with preparing financial statements and supporting documentation.
- Perform variance analysis and assist with budgeting and forecasting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
- Support audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.
- Help maintain accurate fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
- Collaborate with other departments to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
- Stay current with accounting standards and company policies.

The salary range for this position is $65,000-$80,000 depending on experience.
You will catch our eye if you have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience (public or corporate accounting preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Quick Books, Net Suite, Sage Intacct, or similar).
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
- Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
- Obtain a valid health certificate to meet SJCS or current funding authority requirements as required.
- Meet SJCS and the state funding authority requirements of criminal background and record checks.
- Having a valid state‑issued driver’s license with a current driving record in good standing is required.
- May lift a minimum of 15 pounds.
- Able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, reach and walk for long periods.
