What the Student Support Assistant does:
In coordination with the Behavior Department and Classroom staff, Student Support Assistants provide support as assigned to classroom staff both during the school day and after dismissal. Additional duties include:
- Assists in assigned classroom by implementing teaching plans and behavior programs.
- Provides individualized instruction and supervision for students on and off campus.
- Assists in large group activities.
- Assists Behavior Staff when available.
- Assists with computer entry of behavior data when needed.
- Checks and restocks supply of point cards, day notes, weekly paychecks, behavior sheets, etc
- Assists staff involved in special projects, i.e., fund raising, inventories, bulk mailing, field trips, off-campus training and the like.
What the Student Support Assistant brings to the team:
- Bachelor's Degree in psychology, education or related field, highly preferred
- Experience in crisis prevention/intervention required
- Experience in applied behavior analysis, functional assessment, positive behavioral supports, behavior programming and behavioral counseling preferred
