Summary:
Join a collaborative therapeutic school where small class sizes, dedicated classroom support, and on-site clinical specialists empower you to focus on what matters most—helping students with emotional, behavioral, and learning needs achieve meaningful academic and personal success. Teach high school students in a highly supportive, relationship-driven environment while working alongside BCBAs, counselors, therapists, and special education professionals.
What You'll Do:
- Develop, implement, and manage IEPs aligned with student goals.
- Deliver individualized instruction in high school core academic subjects.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning and behavioral needs.
- Implement behavior intervention strategies alongside BCBAs and behavior staff.
- Monitor student progress using academic and behavioral data.
- Support transition planning, vocational readiness, and independent living skills.
- Partner with families and multidisciplinary teams to support student success.
- Maintain required documentation and ensure special education compliance.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field (Master's preferred).
- Virginia Special Education teaching license or eligibility to obtain licensure.
- Experience supporting students with emotional, behavioral, or learning disabilities.
- Knowledge of IEP development, IDEA, and evidence-based instructional practices.
- Strong classroom management and behavioral support skills.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
What Would Be a Plus:
- Experience teaching high school special education.
- Experience with transition planning or vocational education.
- Experience working in therapeutic, behavioral, or alternative school settings.
- Familiarity with ABA principles or collaborating with BCBAs.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
