The IT-Operations Liaison Volunteer acts as the primary bridge between the operational staff and the IT consultant. This role ensures that technical needs are clearly communicated to the IT team, while IT protocols are accurately implemented within operational workflows. This person helps streamline processes, troubleshoot issues, and ensure technology supports the organization’s mission efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Bridge Communication:
Serve as the first point of contact for operational staff technical inquiries, filtering and escalating issues to the IT consultant as needed. - Requirements Gathering:
Check in with operational teams to identify, document, and analyze needs for new tools or software updates. - Process Translation:
Translate technical specifications from IT into easy-to-understand procedures for non-technical operations staff. - Workflow Coordination:
Help coordinate the implementation of new technology or software, ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations. - Issue Resolution Tracking:
Maintain a log of technical issues that affect operations, tracking them from report to resolution. - System Training:
Act as a super‑user to provide foundational training to staff on new tools or standard operating procedures (SOPs). - Feedback Loop:
Provide regular feedback to IT regarding system usability and performance, as well as operational updates.
Skills and Qualifications
- Technical Familiarity:
Proficiency in standard office software (Microsoft Office 365) and a tech‑savvy mindset. - Communication
Skills:
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical teams. - Organization:
Strong project coordination skills with the ability to track multiple issues simultaneously. - Problem‑Solving:
Ability to analyze workflows, identify bottlenecks, and propose practical solutions. - Availability:
Ability to commit to regular weekly hours (e.g., 5–10 hours per week). - Designing and developing automated workflows using Microsoft Power Automate.
- Maintenance and troubleshooting of existing workflows to ensure smooth operation.
- Creating and maintaining documentation for developed workflows and processes.
- Previous experience in IT support, administrative operations, or as a volunteer in a similar capacity.
