GOLDLEAF is a high-volume, luxury cannabis dispensary located in Annapolis, Maryland. We are seeking an experienced
In-House CPA / Controllerto oversee accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, tax coordination, and financial organization for our dispensary and related small business entities.
This is a hands-on, in-office role for someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, trustworthy, and comfortable working in a fast-paced business environment. The right person will have strong accounting knowledge, excellent judgment, and the ability to bring structure, accuracy, and financial clarity to a growing multi-entity operation.
ResponsibilitiesThe In-House CPA / Controller will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s day-to-day accounting and financial reporting functions, including:
- Managing accounting for a high-volume dispensary and related small entities
- Overseeing general ledger activity and ensuring accurate books
- Preparing monthly financial statements and management reports
- Managing accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reviewing and reconciling bank accounts, credit cards, merchant accounts, cash activity, and vendor balances
- Monitoring cash flow and helping leadership understand weekly and monthly financial position
- Coordinating with external tax professionals on tax filings, planning, and compliance
- Assisting with sales tax, payroll tax, income tax, and other required filings
- Managing vendor payment schedules and AP aging
- Reconciling POS, banking, cash, and accounting records
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
- Reviewing expenses and identifying cost-saving opportunities
- Maintaining organized financial records and backup documentation
- Creating internal accounting processes, controls, and reporting systems
- Supporting ownership and senior leadership with financial analysis and special projects
- Helping manage accounting across multiple related businesses/entities
- Learning the financial, tax, compliance, and operational structure of the cannabis industry
- Active CPA license strongly preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
- Prior experience in accounting, bookkeeping, tax, audit, financial reporting, or internal business accounting preferred
- Prior Controller, Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or CPA firm experience is a plus, but not required
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls
- Experience with Quick Books or similar accounting software preferred
- Experience managing multiple entities is a plus
- Cannabis industry experience is not required
- Must be willing to learn the cannabis industry and its accounting, tax, compliance, and operational requirements
- Must be highly organized, discreet, dependable, and detail-oriented
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Must be able to work on-site in Annapolis, Maryland
