Central Office
A youth internship for high school students who have been recruited to participate in the apprenticeship program. Performs general clerical office tasks. Duties are specific based on office assignment at the central office. The intern will provide support in performing varied and moderately complex tasks including preparing and processing forms, records, correspondence, memoranda, documents, and reports. Additional work days and/or hours may be required as needed, including summer hours.
Essential duties/responsibilities include performing in office environment to learn to use Microsoft Office Suite skills and office equipment, supporting central office staff using different technological and systematic applications, and performing other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.
Minimum qualifications include being a student at an AACPS high school. Experience is not required. Knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics include excellent communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work efficiently and harmoniously with others and at the direction of central office staff, demonstrated ability to effectively work and communicate with diverse populations, and demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications.
Physical demands and working conditions include standing, walking, sitting, keyboarding, talking, and hearing between 1/3 and 2/3 percent of the time. Work environment is an office, school or similar indoor environment over 2/3 percent of the time with moderate noise level between 1/3 and 2/3 percent of the time. There are no special vision requirements, weight, or force lifting and carrying requirements.
