Job Description Summary
Are you looking for a career that combines customer service, organization, and community impact? We are seeking a dependable Jury Clerk to help maintain the orderly and efficient coordination of jury services for the courts. This position provides qualified prospective jurors for Superior, Justice, and Tucson City Courts petit jury panels and state and county grand juries.
Hiring Hourly RangeHourly Range: $19.16–$25.86
Range Explanation:
- Hiring Range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer.
- The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
- The position is in pay grade 4, which may constitute a promotional opportunity for current county staff. Promotional increase will be determined at the time of offer.
- A high school diploma or GED equivalent certificate and at least one year of clerical experience in a professional office environment performing tasks such as working with computers in data entry and/or word processing, reception, message and/or mail delivery, filing, and using various office equipment.
- OR any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education approved by Human Resources.
Important Notice Regarding Multiple Applications:
Once a candidate formally accepts a job offer with Superior Court, Juvenile Court, or Justice Court (Tucson and Ajo), all other active applications they may have submitted for different roles within these courts will be inactivated.
- Process incoming mail, email, faxes, phone calls and related tasks, including data entry and updating juror information into the jury database; make determinations on juror qualifications and requests to be postponed or excused from jury service pursuant to Arizona Revised Statutes and Pima County jury office policy and procedures.
- Process postponement and excusal requests; sort and file processed paperwork; perform quality checks on data processing.
- Perform customer service duties by answering phones, replying to emails, greeting jurors in person, responding to questions and concerns; input and process juror data into the jury database; prepare correspondence; validate juror parking; prepare and sign attendance certificates.
- Prepare daily jury trial calendars by entering trial data, coordinate with judicial divisions, courtroom clerks, and court staff regarding trial status, juror panel sizes and needs; assess the number of jurors needed each day; update the court website and juror recording line; prepare paperwork and juror lists.
- Input all jury‑related statistical data, track trial progress each day, and input trial outcome data.
- Prepare address lists of impaneled jurors, communicate with judicial divisions to obtain daily juror attendance for pay; prepare daily and quarterly civil billing sheets.
- Staff the jury assembly room and manage all jury assembly room activities: check jurors into attendance, scan juror bar codes, distribute biographical forms, update biographical and pay information in the database, draw jury panels, prepare paperwork for each case.
- Provide orientation to jurors, answer questions, manage individual juror‑related issues/concerns, validate parking, and track juror needs and status.
- Prepare daily juror notice postcards and other reports using jury database software.
- Respond to juror pay requests and interact with Court Finance departments to resolve issues; operate juror payroll functions in the database software.
- Assist with court‑ordered juror questionnaires by managing assigned jurors, helping with mailings and communication.
- Assist with grand juror communications and attendance for the approximately 10 grand juries empaneled annually.
