Position Description

This position works in the Department of Public Work's Utilities Bureau and its primary function is to ensure that the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) asset inventory, maintenance and quality assurance of historical records, workflow, equipment attributes and associated spare parts database are complete and current for Bureau assets, generate reports in supporting of asset management program activities and upper management for KPI.

This position is also responsible for providing training and Division reporting, as well as interfacing with the Vue Works Administrator to assist with CMMS software issues.

  • The incumbent will be required to perform field data collection, data entry and related activities for process plant equipment maintenance management to include mechanical, electrical and instrumentation associated with water and wastewater plants, pumping stations and facilities.
  • This position is also responsible for training others in the use of the CMMS systems.
  • Manage and analyze asset/work order data and reports to measure maintenance effectiveness.
  • Interpret historical cost data, assist in cost trending, budgeting, condition analysis, contract procurement, and other related items.
  • Audit data in the CMMS to verify that business processes are producing data of sufficient quality for management purposes.
  • Build custom reports and queries from the CMMS database to serve as a management tool in making sound business decisions.
  • Develop reports, dashboard queries and special queries to meet user requirements.
  • Develop graphical Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), metrics, and screen layouts as required.
  • Support supervisors and managers in reporting capabilities and utilizing metrics in day-to-day operations.
  • Coordinate the planning, design and establishment of data entry standards used in the CMMS by creating various policies and SOPs.
  • Responsible for the implementation and enforcement of these data standards to ensure data normalization.
  • Analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improvement.
  • Assist the Department with CMMS problem troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Interface with the CMMS program vendors as required with testing of patches and upgrades.
  • Recommend new projects and initiatives to improve the stability of the operation.
  • Prioritize projects based on business impact. Effectively support, motivate, and utilize each team member on all project initiatives.
NATURE AND VARIETY OF WORK
  • Employees will work closely with the maintenance team, operation team, and IT team to ensure the CMMS system is functioning effectively and efficiently.
  • Employees receive general supervision from a higher-level supervisor.
  • Work is reviewed in terms of effectiveness in meeting objectives.
  • Guidelines in the form of County and departmental policies and procedures, technical manuals, and computer science principles and practices provide the parameters for employees to perform their work.
  • Employees are required to use sound judgment as necessary to modify, adapt, or deviate from guidelines to accomplish work assignment objectives.
  • Employees in this class interact with both technical and non-technical staff within other County departments.
  • Depending on the area of assignment, the work may involve bending, climbing, lifting and moving boxes, walking, standing, may be sedentary in an office environment, and will include the operation of a County vehicle for pickup and delivery of equipment as well as field work.
  • Employees must have the ability to work within the guidelines of confined space regulations, lockout/tagout, electrical safety, and other critical procedures currently in place within the Bureau of Utility Operations.
  • Ability to enter wastewater wet wells, vaults, and climb ladders while utilizing the personal protective equipment to perform field collection of asset data.
