Role Description

This full-time on-site Dentist role is based at Lighthouse Family Dentistry in Annapolis, MD. The Dentist is responsible for performing comprehensive examinations, diagnosing oral health conditions, and developing treatment plans that align with patient needs and best practices. Day-to-day responsibilities include providing preventive care, restorative procedures, and basic cosmetic treatments, as well as administering local anesthesia, interpreting radiographs, and coordinating follow-up care.

The role also involves educating patients on oral hygiene, documenting clinical findings accurately, collaborating with dental assistants and hygienists, and maintaining compliance with infection control and safety protocols. The Dentist is expected to contribute to a positive office culture, support efficient patient flow, and uphold high standards of professionalism and ethics.

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from an accredited dental school; active and unrestricted license to practice dentistry in Maryland (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Proficiency in comprehensive diagnosis and treatment planning, including preventive, restorative, and basic cosmetic dentistry.
  • Demonstrated skill in performing common clinical procedures such as fillings, crowns, extractions, and periodontal therapies.
  • Ability to interpret dental radiographs and other diagnostic tests accurately and integrate findings into care plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to explain treatment options clearly and build trust with patients of diverse backgrounds and ages.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice, continuing education, and staying current with advances in dental materials, techniques, and technology.
  • Experience working collaboratively with dental hygienists, assistants, and front office staff to support efficient, patient-focused care.
  • Knowledge of infection control standards, OSHA guidelines, HIPAA requirements, and best practices for a safe clinical environment.
  • Comfort using practice management and electronic health record systems to document care and manage patient information.
  • Previous experience in a general or family dentistry setting is preferred; new graduates with strong clinical skills and a willingness to learn are also encouraged to apply.
