Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Faith Formation in preparing the youth of St. Mary's Parish and Schools for the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, Confirmation, and the adapted Order of Christian Initiation of Adults for children.
  • Prepare children aged 4–6 for the sacrament of Baptism.
  • Coordinate all aspects of sacramental preparation, including planning and conducting lessons, facilitating parent sessions, organizing retreats, scheduling and planning liturgies.
  • Track all necessary documents with the Administrative Assistant – baptism certificates, registration forms, sponsor forms, service forms, Confirmation candidate forms, and coordinate required supplies.
  • Collaborate with the Youth Minister to plan and coordinate retreats and pilgrimages and assist with youth ministry events.
  • Communicate with parents of sacramental candidates via the website, newsletters, emails, phone calls, and in-person meetings.
  • Follow Archdiocesan policies and procedures and attend applicable Archdiocesan meetings.
Qualifications
  • Must be a confirmed and practicing Catholic.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in religious education, theology, or related field preferred.
  • Parish experience in religious education, family ministry, and/or youth ministry preferred.
  • Experience working with a wide range of age groups, including elementary, middle school, and high school students.
  • Ability to recruit, manage, and coordinate teams of volunteers and catechists.
  • Strong desire to collaborate effectively with others and be part of a faith formation team.
  • Willingness, ability, and creativity to learn and develop new programs in collaboration with the Director of Faith Formation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfortable public speaking to large gatherings of parents and children.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and virtual platforms such as Zoom.

Pay Range: $48,000, Annualized
