Liaison:
Community School Temporary
Up to 14 hours per week providing support to the Community School Program Manager and Community School Liaison. Responsibilities include supporting during-school and after school programming, Saturday Success Academy, attendance tracking and monitoring, partner coordination and logistics, family engagement activities, and operational support for Community School initiatives.
Serves as the link between the community school and the school community and as a point of contact for the school administrators, staff, parents, and community school program managers. Mentors and/or tutors small groups, works with families at the school and in the community, and participates in activities that support students and their education
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Works to support students and families within the Community School catchment area.
- Monitors and/or mentors an identified group of students and caregivers.
- Coordinates group sessions and maintains and submits timely reports detailing student participation and outcomes.
- Ensures accurate and confidential student records.
- Acts as a liaison between the school and a community of diverse families in school and community events and parent/guardian meetings.
- Participates in community and school activities that support the school's initiatives and programs.
- Monitors progress of all school-community related activities and keeps records of the results of such events.
- Facilitates activities and events that promote the development of stronger staff relationships with parents/guardians, families, and the community.
- Establishes effective and cooperative working relationships with professional and support staff.
- Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate preferred.
Experience:
- One (1) year Group facilitation and/or Supervision experience preferred;
- One (1) year experience in human development, community outreach, child psychology, counseling, special education or related fields preferred;
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics:
- Excellent clerical and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to follows assignment, exercise initiative and good judgment in the timely execution of assigned responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Ability to effectively communicate with diverse communities and develop outreach strategies to encourage parental involvement in student learning.
- Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners.
- Demonstrates ability to work effectively and engage diverse parents/guardians with varied communication styles, levels of skill and experience in order to support their child's educational experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications
