Recreation Specialist; Sailing Instructor

Job Summary

Plans, schedules, and conducts weekend basic keelboat courses in accordance with US Navy Sailing Association guidelines for military active duty personnel and their dependents, retirees and authorized civilians. The position also instructs summer and winter boater safety courses.

• Work with scheduling administrator and prepare course materials.
• Provide supervision and instruction to ensure participant health and safety.
• Accurately complete records and reports on student performance and boat maintenance.
• Evaluate course effectiveness and adapt sailing activities to water conditions and resource constraints.
• Assist supervisor with budgeting, procurement, long‑range planning, safety programs, and public relations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Strong sailing background with at least 1 year of experience; instructor level on‑water safety; good communication and teaching skills; ability to work with diverse students; past leadership experience or desire to develop leadership abilities.

No educational qualification required.

$25 – $28 per hour; intermittent, flexible 0‑40 hours per week; seasonal appointment until September 2026; no benefits.
