JOB SUMMARY

An enthusiastic, dedicated, and passionate member of the division of Curriculum and Instruction leadership team. Well-versed in the integration of technology, statistics, and data analysis who understands the mathematical progression of students in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. Masterful curriculum and assessment developer capable of infusing rigorous content and practice standards into every grade. Coordinates, supervises and plans the implementation and evaluation of the countywide grades one through five comprehensive elementary integrated mathematics programs to improve teaching and learning.

Aligns Academic and Strategic Initiatives to all AACPS systemic goals and collaborates with multiple curriculum offices to integrate a balanced approach to mathematics instruction.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plans, develops, and implements the content area's multi-year strategic plan aligned with the district's vision.
  • Supervises and rates staff, screens applicants for school-based content area leadership and instruction and collaborates on staffing decisions with school-based administration.
  • Collaborates with school administration to conduct classroom observations and provides method on collaborative work with classroom teachers and enhancing and integrating curricular units and lessons with engaging resources.
  • Analyzes district data to make informed decisions to ensure alignment between what is being taught and assessed.
  • Prepares reports, analyzes budget requests, prepares documentation for state and federal program approval and funding, and maintains files, records, and/or expenditure controls. Seeks grant funding opportunities and applies for grants; serves as a grant manager to monitor grant funds and services; builds inventories, programs, and opportunities for all students in assigned content area.
  • Collaborates to develop procedures for the evaluation, selection, acquisition, and distribution of high-quality instructional materials.
  • Develops curricula and assessments that are aligned with the Maryland College and Career Ready Standards. Curriculum is research based, culturally relevant, and infused with Universal Design for Learning. Curricula incorporates higher order thinking, productive struggle, and reflects best practices for effective mathematical instruction.
  • Plans and conducts, both as the leader and in partnership with colleagues, professional develop focused on increasing the capacity of all stakeholders. Demonstrates effective teaching pedagogy and techniques utilizing strategies and materials that are aligned to the system's lens of equity and supported by research.
  • Coordinates content area programs with multiple stakeholders including division and central office teams.
  • Serves as a liaison for content programs, curriculum policy, and instructional methods with district, state, and national stakeholders.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.

Education
  • Master's Degree in education, mathematics preferred, from a regionally accredited college or university required.
Experience
  • Five (5) years successful teaching experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics
  • Knowledge of school organization and administration, and supervision.
  • Demonstrated expertise in organizational and systemic planning.
  • Knowledge of current trends, instructional pedagogy, materials, and research in curricular and assessment innovation and design with special emphasis on teaching techniques and supervision in content area.
