Overview
State Highway Administration's (SHA) Office of Materials Technology is currently recruiting for a Senior Pavement Marking Technician (Transportation Engineering Technician V) in Anne Arundel County. Nature of Work:
This position reports directly to the Field Quality Assurance (FQA) Team Leader and will function as the senior technical level to lead testing/inspection activities for the Pavement Marking FQA Team. The incumbent will receive guidance from the FQA Team Leader and the Assistant Division Chief (ADC) in the Structural Materials and Pavement Marking Division but is expected to conduct tasks with little or no assistance.
The main purpose is to provide direction and guidance to project engineers, lower-level technicians, contractors, and manufacturers.
- Review contractor's quality control testing results for accuracy and compliance with standards/specifications.
- Coordinate and review pavement marking evaluation testing on materials applied by SHA maintenance crews and maintenance contractors to ensure product quality, service, and contract compliance.
- Inspect the maintenance of traffic lane closures to ensure the traffic control plan meets MUTCD standards and provides adequate protection of workers and the traveling public.
- Maintain, perform, and schedule calibration of pavement marking testing instruments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Eight (8) years of experience in technical engineering related work in design, traffic, construction, materials testing, engineering surveys, maintenance, or planning.
Selective Qualification: One (1) year experience in performing construction inspections, field data collection and analysis, quality assurance lab testing, or pavement marking inspections.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and/or Access
- Experience in contract management
- Experience with partnering or customer service
Candidate must possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the state of Maryland. Candidate will need to obtain the MARTCP Pavement Marking Certification within one (1) year of employment.
