Job DescriptionAECOM is actively seeking an Environmental Engineer II to join our team in Annapolis Junction, Maryland. The position offers an excellent opportunity for career growth. Job Responsibilities- Performs specific and limited portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer.
- Supports AECOM projects in the areas of contaminated sediments, soil and groundwater remediation, environmental compliance, regenerative remediation and sustainability.
- Works with senior level staff to provide technical analysis and deliverables for current and prospective clients for remedial investigations, feasibility studies, remedial design, remedial action, fate and transport modeling, innovative sampling approaches, etc.
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined procedures.
- Plans and directs field activities for data collection.
- Works on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations, preparing engineering drawings, specifications, and report writing.
- Proposes approach to solve new problems encountered.
- Identifies discrepancies in results.
- Performs field oversight of remediation activities and maintains positive working relationships with client contacts, suppliers, contractors, engineering consultants, academia, and external agencies.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with moderate supervision.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering + 2 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Valid U.S Driver's License and as a condition of employment, must pass AECOM's Motor Vehicle Records Review
- As a condition of employment, candidates must pass a drug screening
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
- 3+ years of relevant experience in site investigations and remediation
- Experience with CERCLA and RCRA remediation programs at complex sites
- Working toward sitting for Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam
- General civil engineering experience
- Strong technical report writing skills and the ability to develop design specifications
- Knowledge of AutoCAD/Civil 3D/GIS
- Willingness to travel, complete field work, and work extended hours, when necessary
- Knowledge of Mid-Atlantic States environmental regulations and setting
- OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training certification
