Position: NAVAL ARCHITECT (HYDROMECHANICS) with Security Clearance
Duties
* You will develop criteria and procedures for advanced hydromechanics research to include: investigation of ship resistance and propulsion, ship dynamics and seakeeping, ocean wave mechanics, wave-structure interactions.
* You instruct students and junior faculty on proper use of laboratory equipment, procedures, and safety, while supporting classroom lectures and interactive laboratory exercises.
* You will perform complex technical calculations and identify economical, efficient procedures to optimize test program objectives and design of novel test equipment.
* You will prepare and present technical reports, recommendations, solutions, and research findings to diverse audiences across government, academia, and professional organizations.
* You will provide consultation to Midshipmen, faculty, and external researchers on the design, evaluation, and execution of complex test setups for non-standard use of Naval Academy Hydromechanics Laboratory (NAHL) facilities.
* You will oversee the operation, maintenance, and engineering upgrades of specialized assets, including two high-speed towing basins, recirculating water tunnels, and coastal engineering wave tanks. Requirements Conditions of employment

* You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
* You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift. Qualifications Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Working with lab instrumentation, measurement equipment, and data acquisition in a laboratory setting,
2) Provide technical oversight and direction for team-based research, hands-on laboratory exercises, and independent engineering projects,
3) Prepare CAD models, engineering drawings, specifications, and documents supported by complex technical calculations to meet program objectives.
