Examples of work performed in this classification include, but are not limited to, the following tasks. These tasks may be amended or other tasks may be assigned as necessary.

  • Inspects and certifies aircraft at specific intervals as required by OEM and FAA.
  • Troubleshoots system malfunctions and performs necessary corrective actions.
  • Documents maintenance of aircraft on appropriate forms.
  • Removes and replaces defective components.
  • Complies with Service Bulletins, Instructions, and Airworthiness Directives as directed.
  • Performs maintenance on Ground Support equipment.
  • Performs preflight/post-flight turnaround inspections and servicing when required.
  • Maintains aircraft logbooks and historical data as required.
  • Complies with safety, foreign object damage, and tool control program requirements.
  • Washes, waxes, cleans and maintains the exterior and interior of aircraft.
  • Serves as a point of contact with the Quality Assurance Representative.
  • Advises management of problems that may delay the scheduled delivery of aircraft to the customer.
  • Ensures materials issued for assigned tasks are the correct items to repair the problem.
  • Provides on-the-job training to new employees as required.
  • Assists with supervision and inspects maintenance performed by FAA-certified and non-certified personnel.
  • Services oxygen, nitrogen, tires, oil, and hydraulic systems.
  • Performs Corrosion Control checks when required.
  • Greets visitors and clients.
  • Exhibits positive courteous behavior with customers, businesses and coworkers.
  • Assists coworkers and those in other departments to successfully perform job tasks and functions when necessary.
  • Follows all safety procedures and practices as established by the Company and regulatory bodies.
  • This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from a standard four-year high school or equivalent (GED) AND two years of experience in work directly related to aircraft maintenance.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, and Equipment: A & P License. Sufficient aviation maintenance hand tools to perform routine Airframe and Powerplant duties.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics

The following skills and abilities are required:

  • Understand and use the English language both oral and written to communicate information or ideas to another person or persons.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Perform basic arithmetic and operate equipment.
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Recognize the existence of a problem and its elements.
  • Perform tasks in the presence of distracting stimulation or under monotonous conditions without significant loss of thought process and efficiency.
  • Perceive and feel attributes of objects and materials such as size, shape, temperature, or texture.
  • Operate hand and power tools.
  • Travel worldwide with limited notice; obtain a security clearance; obtain a passport and/or visa.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and schematics of aircraft instrument/electronic components.
  • Recognize from schematics and drawings how one assembly functions and how assemblies interact.

Knowledge of the following is required:

  • Databases sufficient to perform job duties and tasks.
  • Aircraft sheet metal repair and component repair.
  • Instrument, electronic and electrical test equipment.
  • Military or commercial aviation maintenance and its terminology.
  • U.S. government regulations for federal contractors and FAA maintenance programs.
Physical Demands

The physical demands include regularly using hands to manipulate objects, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The role includes exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, electrical shock, high or precarious places, caustic chemicals, ambient weather, radiation risk, vibration, and moderate noise.
