Role Overview

Peraton is hiring a Systems Engineer - Splunk Administrator, Senior Advisor. This is a full‑time role in Maryland that supports a critical mission within our Cyber Mission Business Unit in Annapolis Junction, MD. The position focuses on maintaining and enhancing the existing Splunk infrastructure in the enterprise and is performed at a contractor facility.

Salary Context

This role offers a compensation range of $176,000 to $282,000. The median for senior‑level security roles is $115,000–$166,000, making this a 63% higher opportunity.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Seventeen (17) years’ experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • Demonstrated experience with Splunk and in planning and leading System Administration.
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance with current polygraph required.
Highly Desired
  • Certification – Splunk Enterprise Certified Admin or other advanced certification.

Key Responsibilities
  • The candidate’s primary responsibilities will include maintaining and enhancing the existing Splunk infrastructure in the enterprise.
  • Manage the administration of Splunk deployments, including operating system and application aspects.
  • Apply upgrades and patches as necessary to maintain system stability.
  • Troubleshoot logs and effectively communicate with teammates, both government and contractor, in an enterprise environment.
  • Analyze and resolve system performance issues (e.g., response time or timing problems, interface/integration problems, system bottlenecks, data flow issues).
  • Design solutions by analyzing stakeholder requirements and conferring with users and other system engineers.
  • Modernize existing Splunk instance to upgrade capabilities and make improvements, including the following functions:
  • Design and size Splunk architectures.
  • Data modeling.
