The Comptroller of Maryland's Revenue Administration Division is seeking forward-thinking individuals to join the Payment Processing team. The Fiscal Accounts Clerk I will review, verify, record, and adjust financial transactions related to tax returns, research and apply payments to taxpayer accounts, prepare and deposit checks, and work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Telework may be available after a 6‑month probation period, and evening or Saturday work may be required during the Tax Season (January 15th–May 15th).
Minimum Qualifications- Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
- One year of experience reviewing, verifying, recording, adjusting, and balancing financial transactions.
- Experience in calculating and recording financial or statistical data may be substituted for the required high school education on a year‑for‑year basis.
- Six credit hours in accounting from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
- A minimum of five courses or six months of accounting‑related training in areas such as journalizing transactions, analyzing transactions into debits and credits, posting to a general ledger, payroll, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
- U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in financial clerical or finance technician classifications may be substituted for one year of the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with remittance processing systems.
- Experience in data entry.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
