Job Overview
Amentum is seeking a highly motivated IT Support Technician to provide Tier 1 help desk support for the Anne Arundel County Office of Information Technology in Annapolis, Maryland. The role involves diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices, as well as providing remote, phone, email, chat, or in‑person assistance to users across the county.
Work hours are normally 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday. Overtime occurs infrequently (approximately 1% of total hours). If necessary, the technician may be required to operate a county vehicle for equipment pickup and delivery.
Responsibilities- Provide technical assistance and troubleshooting to end‑users experiencing hardware or software issues on desktop computers, laptops, and peripherals.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software problems related to desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other peripherals.
- Escalate complex issues to higher‑level support teams as needed.
- Provide technical support and guidance to users via phone, email, chat, remote, or in‑person interactions.
- Provide desktop support for all county staff, including those at remote locations.
- Create and maintain incident work‑log entries and spreadsheets/databases for tracking purposes.
- Provide basic training in desktop programs for new staff, covering standard applications such as G‑Suite and Microsoft Office and how to access available research resources.
- Associate’s degree in a related Information Technology field and at least 1 year of experience in a desktop support, helpdesk, or technical support role; OR a high school diploma/GED and at least 3 years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience with Google Workspace Environment, including Gmail, Calendar, and Drive.
- Experience with client‑facing consulting engagements.
- Clear, concise, and accurate communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
- Must be able and willing to perform physical tasks, such as sitting for extended periods at a desk, bending, lifting, moving boxes, walking, standing, and operating a county vehicle for equipment pickup and delivery.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check; traveling to customer sites may be required.
- When operating a vehicle for work purposes, the technician must wear a seat belt and must not use a cellular device while the vehicle is in motion.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization; U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status is required for this location.
- Position requires a detailed background check.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a related Information Technology field.
Hourly rate: $16.83 – $19.23. The compensation range or hourly rate listed represents a good‑faith estimate of the company’s intent at the time of posting and may vary based on job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
