Our headquarters is in California, MD near Naval Air Station Patuxent River. This position will provide Systems Security Engineering support to the Unmanned Carrier Aviation Program Office (PMA-268) located at Patuxent River Naval Air Station.
Primary Duties:
- Provide support to PMA-268 Cyber Leads in the execution of the PMA-268 Cybersecurity Program.
- Draft and review Program Documentation, Policies and Plans.
- Coordinate with PMA-268 Cyber Leads when changes affect system security posture, cybersecurity authorizations, and/or certifications.
- Lead product‑specific System Security Engineering activities for all systems within the scope of the IPT.
- Oversee all IPT cybersecurity activities.
- Review system documentation to maintain SME‑level knowledge of system architecture, functionality and capabilities.
- Work closely with the IPT Class Desk and IPT Leadership to ensure early engagement when items may impact program cost, schedule, or performance.
- Develop and maintain a cyber schedule with a detailed Work Breakdown Schedule for significant efforts.
- Provide input for SOWs, DIDs, and CDRLs for IPT contract activities.
- Define, document, and track system security requirements for product specifications and conduct derivation and traceability of cyber requirements.
- Track execution and performance of security measures to protect information and network infrastructure.
- Conduct critical function analysis and identify Mission Essential Functions (MEF).
- Lead Critical Program Information (CPI) assessments.
- Understand vulnerabilities and attack vectors that may impact the cyber posture of systems.
- Recommend security solutions to PMA-268 Cyber Leads.
- Perform SSE duties in support of Cyber Survivability Risk Assessments (CSRA) and CYBERSAFE.
- Lead DFIA implementation efforts, defining enclaves and enclave boundary protection requirements.
- Lead system security certification and registration activities (e.g., CCFs, CDS, Cryptographic Modules).
- Initiate, communicate, and coordinate with stakeholders and SMEs to address actions and RFIs for IPT cybersecurity activities in a timely manner.
- Lead the IPT SSE Working Group to coordinate contractors and maintain awareness of authorization of systems/subsystems.
- Review all IPT cybersecurity CDRLs.
- Participate as a stakeholder in change management processes to maintain cybersecurity posture.
- Coordinate Risk Management activities and document mitigation steps.
- Assist IPT ISSO with defining information types, approving CIA levels, reviewing POA&M, and reviewing hardware/software lists.

Desired
Experience:
- Program office experience.
- Aviation engineering experience.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field.
- Minimum of seven (7) years of cyber‑related experience in a DoD environment.
- Meet DoD 8570.01‑M/8140 IAT Level I or II requirements (e.g., Security+ CE).
Clearance: This position requires an Active Secret Security Clearance and is subject to a government security investigation. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to complete the full background investigation.
Compensation: Estimated salary range $130,000 to $145,000. KAIROS also provides a comprehensive benefits package.
