Essential Job FunctionsThe Regional Desktop Support Technician (Hybrid) provides high quality technical support and customer service to more than 5,000 Judicial Branch employees across the State of Maryland. This role supports account management, incident troubleshooting, network connectivity, and hardware/software configuration while serving as a primary liaison between end users and the Judiciary. The technician ensures timely communication regarding system events, outages, and service impacts, and helps meet the full range of user technology needs.
This position operates across multiple on-site locations, providing Tier 1 and Tier 2 support both remotely and in person. The role is based in Annapolis, and the technician is required to report to the Annapolis. Frequent travel to Judiciary locations is required to address issues that need in person assistance.
Serves as the primary DSS point of contact for assigned region and travels regularly between the counties in region. Monitors, maintains, and provides primary Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for JIS Information Technology systems located in assigned region including but not limited to hardware, software, network, and applications. Manages Service Desk requests by providing first-level contact and problem resolution, escalating critical issues in a timely manner as needed.
Serves on behalf of JIS as facilitator for staff in assigned region with subject matter expertise, which includes vendors and staff in Annapolis offices, to resolve IT Support issues.
Provides project management and technical guidance in coordination of JIS upgrades, rollouts and other related JIS IT projects. Organizes and maintains regional JIS inventory and assists with creation and management of regional JIS IT procurement needs. Travels between counties in assigned region to provide service and install/remove equipment.
Provides onsite assistance to all employees connecting to the JIS network as it relates to onboarding, offboarding, and staff relocation within assigned region. Participates in a rotating schedule with other desktop support technicians to provide after hours on call coverage.
Assists with JIS IT life-cycle management and the proper assignment of all regional IT assets within the inventory management system.
Serves as JIS liaison between assigned region and JIS information technology groups to diagnose and troubleshoot related issues on the JIS network.
Trains, assists, and advises Judiciary staff in assigned region with optimizing use and capabilities of JIS IT assets in accordance with established policies, procedures, and processes.
Other duties as assigned by Manager.
Minimum QualificationsEducation: Associate degree from an accredited college or university.
Experience: Four (4) years of formal information technology, desktop support, customer support, customer service, project management, or technology management experience.
Note: Professional work experience as defined above may be substitute on a year for year basis for up to two (2) years of the required education.
