Custodial; Floor Worker

• This position will be working in Annapolis, MD at the United States Naval Academy.
• The core working hours are 7:00 am - 3:00 pm, Monday - Friday. Various weekends and holidays will be required.
• Starting pay is $20.45 per hour.
• This site is governed by a collective bargaining agreement.
• This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check and drug screening, and the ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.

• Floor care experience is required:
  • Strip and wax floors
  • Use of buffers
  • Shampooing carpets
• Supervisor experience is required:
  • Successfully managing custodial workers

• Sweeps and mops hallways, stairs, and offices.
• Empties waste baskets and disposes of trash properly.
• Dusts horizontal surfaces.
• Cleans bathrooms.
• Wax and buff floors with prescribed buffers.
• Clean glass and windows.
• Wash walls and other vertical surfaces.
• Perform snow removal if required by contract.
• Polish kick panels, door knobs, and other fixtures.
• Strip and wax floors.
• Vacuum rugs.
• Mix cleaning solutions.
• Maintain issued equipment.
• Notify supervisor when supplies and equipment are needed.
• Supervise activities of assigned workers temporarily while performing own work.
• Assume responsibility of crew during the absence of the foreman.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Custodial Foreman.

• Must be able to stand or walk 90% of the work time; sit 10%.
• Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds and push/pull 50 pounds.
• Must be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach.
• These are necessary for using ladders, stairs, and cleaning various areas.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
• Good vision, including depth perception and color differentiation, is required for safety.
