Under the direction of the CEO, and in collaboration with the Board of Directors, the Chief Development Officer (CDO) provides strategic leadership for all resource development (RD) activities. The CDO is responsible for designing and executing a comprehensive fundraising strategy; personally managing key donor and funder relationships; and building the system, team, and culture required to achieve sustainable revenue growth in support of BGCAA’s mission.

Job Responsibilities ) Strategic Leadership & Planning
- Develop, execute, and continuously refine a comprehensive, multi-channel fundraising strategy aligned with BGCAA’s priorities, annual goals, and long-term sustainability.
- Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and Executive Team on fundraising strategy, donor engagement, and organizational sustainability.
- Partner with the CEO and Board of Directors to ensure effective oversight and execution of all resource development activities supporting Club operations and programs.
- Establish measurable goals, evaluate fundraising performance, and identify opportunities to strengthen results across all revenue streams.
- Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of the organization’s annual budget related to fundraising, ensuring appropriate controls and stewardship of donor resources.
- Ensure fundraising expenses are managed responsibly and within approved budgets.
- Lead a team of highly trained development professionals to achieve organizational and individual quarterly and annual goals. The team currently consists of the Director of Resource Development, a Resource Development Coordinator, a Marketing contractor, and a contracted grant writer.
- Create and sustain an inclusive, high-performing culture, through coaching, professional development, regular performance feedback, and clear expectations.
- Ensure Resource Development operations are well-organized, efficiently executed, and aligned with organizational priorities and revenue targets.
- Hold the Resource Development Team accountable for performance metrics, revenue targets, and stewardship standards.
- Lead all major revenue streams, including annual fund, major gifts, planned giving, grants, corporate partnerships, special events, and capital or endowment campaigns.
- Oversee donor strategy, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, and data-driven movement of donors across giving levels.
- Personally manage a portfolio of key major donors and prospects.
- Provide leadership for planned giving efforts, including donor cultivation, proposal development, and solicitation strategies.
- Oversee annual fund strategies to acquire, retain, and upgrade donors across multiple channels.
- Ensure strong fundraising infrastructure, including CRM systems, gift processing, reporting, and timely donor acknowledgement, in partnership with Finance.
- Use data and analysis to inform donor segmentation, solicitation strategies, and revenue forecasting.
- Evaluate giving trends of individual donors and determine those with potential for upgrading to Major Gift status.
- Oversee fundraising events to ensure they advance donor engagement and net revenue goals.
- Lead or support special fundraising initiatives as assigned by the CEO.
- Oversee the full grants lifecycle, including prospecting, proposal development, reporting, and compliance.
- Establish guidelines and strategies for major and planned giving programs.
- Provide leadership for capital or endowment campaigns, including feasibility, goal-setting, vendor selection, and implementation.
- Represent BGCAA at major donor meetings, events, and external engagements that advance fundraising goals.
- Lead organization marketing and communication efforts to generate deeper community understanding and engagement across all audiences: members, donors, staff and Board.
