Position Objective
Coordinates and collects the data files of all patients undergoing adult cardiac surgery.
Essential
Job Duties Coordinates, collects and abstracts all the data of all patients undergoing all aspects of cardiac surgery including the pre‑admission, admission, intra‑operative, post‑operative and discharge process to include follow‑up communication and interaction with the patient, healthcare team and physicians.Reports directly into the STS (Society for Thoracic Surgery) database, meeting harvest deadlines.Maintains STS database and conducts routine maintenance as needed to ensure data integrity. Generates STS database reports on a regular basis.Coordinates the collection and reporting of relevant data to administration and other relevant parties; uses data to make improvements to the cardiac surgery program. Utilizes outcomes data to identify variances and opportunities for improvement; implements approved changes after collaboration with members of the health care team and provides feedback to the health care team to promote high quality cost‑effective patient care.Reviews data for inconsistencies or anomalies that could skew analytical results.Facilitates STS data conferences and educational presentations.Coordinates and participates in all cardiac surgery data audits.Contributes to policies/protocols for cardiac surgery patients.Ensures compliance to the most up to date STS requirements, attends data manager conferences yearly.Supports research initiatives.Educational/Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3-5years of experience.

There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood‑borne pathogens.
Physical Demands – Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

$19—$23 USD
